I composed and recorded “Gaia’s Stone Tapes” to commemorate my 70th birthday when I was also able to incorporate a beautiful handpan (made by Meridian Handpans of Bristol) which my lovely wife and children gave me as a birthday present. Having reached 3 score years and 10, I wanted to try and capture the passing of time, whilst also touching on the more esoteric aspects of life on planet Earth. The references to dust and bone are taken from the writing of the tantric guru, Shri Mahendranath Dadaji, of whom I had the privilege of meeting in the early 1980’s. The song seeks to celebrate the female force of regeneration which drives the evolution of planet earth and its inhabitants.
