“Holding on to Earth” was composed in the build up to COP26 and recorded after the conference had concluded, as was the accompanying video. We humans have certainly made a mess of things, but let’s hope the degradation of our earth can be turned round as a matter of urgency. Multi-tracked at home on hansa veena, hammered dulcimer, distorted shrutti box and frame drum, with samples of whale and bird song plus excerpts from speeches by Greta Thunberg and Sir David Attenborough. I am very grateful to my talented friend Alan for all of the artworks and photographs he has provided for use in the video. It’s time for some serious changes to be undertaken in regards to our collective behaviour.
