I wrote this anti-war song primarily in support of the people of Ukraine and people across the world oppressed by aggressors. It was not an easy song to write from the comfort of my music room, but rather than try to write a “We Shall Overcome” type of ballad I opted instead to provide a focus on war mongers and the dark places they must inhabit within themselves to wrought such suffering. I have used the image of the Celtic war deity, Morrigan, to portray war mongers, but in reality, those who seek to impose their will on others, by threat of wholesale death and suffering, is far in excess of anything the humble raven might undertake which is a corvid I actually love to watch and listen to as they fly over our cottage. As Plato said thousands of years ago, “silence gives consent” to the inhumanity of making war, so please broadcast your own views about the use of war to oppress others and/or feel welcome to forward the link to my music video to others.
